With a budget of around £365m, three hospitals, and 5,500 staff, North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital-based services to the population of Hartlepool, Stockton on Tees, and parts of East Durham and Sedgefield, as well as community, therapeutic, and screening to a wider population across Durham and Teesside.

We have an exciting and rare opportunity available for a talented senior pharmacist to join our leadership team as Lead Pharmacist Clinical Services. The role will involve working closely with the Deputy Chief Pharmacist and other lead pharmacists in order to lead and develop our clinical services. Our department is undergoing significant change as we modernise and develop our services. Your input will be vital as we undertake significant transformation projects across our services.
Main duties of the job
* The post holder is responsible for the delivery and extension of Medicines Optimisation and Clinical Pharmacy Services within the Trust and through the interface with Primary Care, by acting as a role model and a resource for expert advice.
* You will work closely with the senior leadership team within the department to provide input into the development of our clinical pharmacy services.
* You will ensure that the knowledge base, skills, and training are appropriate for the staff undertaking clinical duties.
* You will provide clinical leadership to the ward-based pharmacy teams.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Responsible for determining and delivering the standards of Clinical Pharmacy Care and the associated, defined processes undertaken by the Clinical Pharmacy Team in clinical areas.
* Implements and monitors performance for legal and ethical standards for the practice of Clinical Pharmacy Services.
* Participate in local, regional, or national forums/meetings/working parties.
* To contribute to achieving the in-year performance targets and objectives.
* Participates in delivering a Clinical Pharmacy Service with a Prescribing role to a designated group of wards at North Tees and undertakes duties of a Directorate Pharmacist.
* To promote a safety-conscious culture.
* To act as an Independent Prescriber (if and once qualified) to provide direct care to patients by means of any Trust prescribing stationery.
* To act as a Responsible Pharmacist when covering the in-patient or out-patient dispensaries in this Trust, which includes supervising the Over the Counter Medicines sales direct to patients, using your skills in managing minor ailments.
* Contributes to the design, implementation, and monitoring of adherence to local Pharmacy, Trust, and National policies for the safe and efficient running of the Clinical Pharmacy Services, taking corrective action when necessary.
* To contribute to the creation and updating of Standard Operational Procedures.
* To contribute to the development of the pharmacy service at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS FT.
* Ensures that the Clinical Pharmacy Services provide a high-quality, low-cost, low-risk service with added value.
* To be responsible for and monitor the appropriate budgets for which you have responsibility e.g., staffing and equipment within the section.
* Team leader for Clinical Pharmacy Services.
* Liaises with other pharmacy section heads on matters of mutual interest.
* Contributes to the personal development of staff within this section by participating in assessments of need, proficiency, and the delivery of training.

* Review training and development of all staff, so all staff have a personal development plan and support staff in reaching their full potential through the appraisal process.
* Act as a designated and authorised Pharmacy key holder.
* Ensure that all appropriate information is captured and recorded accurately.
* Provide professional leadership and advice to all pharmacy staff working in the Trust.
