Marshall Slingsby Advanced Composites is based in Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire, where it produces complex composite structures that are predominantly used to manufacture vital parts on ships, submarines, and aircraft. From bespoke one-off designs to low-volume manufacture, the business enjoys a unique place within its sector thanks to its application of ground-breaking technologies that drive the industry forward. Tasks: Cloth Cutting: To understand material properties and efficiently cut a particular cloth to size. Cloth Laminating: To use the appropriate technique and cloth to laminate a variety of products using monolithic or sandwich structures. Infusion - To set up and resin infuse products, where appropriate. Bagging / Consolidation: To ensure, when used that full vacuum integrity is achieved to withstand positive pressure in autoclave / oven cure process. Trimming: To use hand tools to trim and drill composite materials to jigs and hand marking out from drawings. Assembly: To assemble products or details using mechanical fasteners and paste adhesives. Tool strip / release: To prepare a tool for manufacture and release part from the tool ensuring the mould tool is clean and free from FOD. To undertake testing activities To be involved in determining and updating processes and procedures. To support routine engineering activities, including understanding routing and generating job cards To support NPI activities To deliver any activities in line with the relevant process and to time and budget To continue professional development through various avenues including on the job training and academic qualifications where necessary. Support the use of lean tools and techniques to maximise efficiency and reduce waste. To work with wider team to ensure the correct materials are selected for both tooling, fixtures and jigs to aid efficient manufacture. Qualifications GCSE level 4 in Maths, Science and English Good IT skills Good communication skills written and verbal. Ability to work to instructions. Experienced in planning small projects. Experienced in planning and prioritising own work and deadlines.
