In this role you will be working alongside colleagues in leading and managing the Arranging Support Team, based at Care Direct Plus in Exeter. The team is comprised of a talented group of Arranging Support Co-ordinators and Advisors, who source adult social care services to meet the outcomes identified in individual support plans, following an assessment or review of need by care management staff.
The team also arrange care services on behalf of the NHS under continuing healthcare funding and to facilitate discharge from hospital or short-term rehabilitation. Working within agreed contracting arrangements the team advise on and source best value services with a wide range of accredited providers, also arranging direct payments for service users who have opted to self-direct their own support.
You will manage staff and resources, working closely with integrated health and social care, commissioning and procurement teams and wider partner agencies, the provider market and the voluntary sector. You will be overseeing the quality standards of the team, managing workflow, and providing expert advice with a particular lead for one of the three workstreams of Care at Home, Bed-based Care and Direct Payments.
You will foster a positive and collaborative work environment, and support staff in engaging with a range of stakeholders as part of joined-up arrangements for the delivery of services to the public. You will be supporting the team in exploring and advising on relevant options, negotiating with providers on cost as well as capacity where there is a gap in service provision, and in making timely arrangements for care that support people to meet their identified outcomes and optimise independence.

About you
This post is suitable for an applicant who has a management qualification at Diploma Level 5 or equivalent. It will suit someone who has experience of a previous management role or an ambitious and experienced practitioner who is looking for an opportunity to gain managerial experience, in a busy and supportive setting.
You will need to demonstrate a proven track record of working in partnership with providers and other agencies, ideally within the health and social care sector. You will have some experience of supervising staff, and the ability and enthusiasm to develop your existing management and leadership skills.
You will need to be able to negotiate, influence others and create effective working relationships. You will have the skills and knowledge to support and supervise staff, within a practice framework, and provide sound consistent advice, demonstrating good judgement. You will have the ability to think innovatively in support of best practice and best value outcomes, and will be keen to lead a service that can make a real difference to people’s lives.

The Team Manager role within the Arranging Support Team will be working a 5-day week on a staff rotation basis, over six days; Monday to Saturday, office hours. Saturday working attracts an enhanced rate. Currently Team Managers are required to work on average one Saturday every 8 weeks, though this may be subject to change to meet the needs of the service.
