We are seeking a passionate Senior Designer to assist in leading our very talented design team. You will be working in a fast-paced environment on a range of projects.
You will be working closely with the project manager to ensure that designs we create are innovative and fulfill the brief accurately.
Comprehensive knowledge of best practices across web, digital and print, a minimum of 5 years’ experience in digital and brand design – along with a diverse portfolio are a must to be considered for this position.
Positioning the role:
The design department is made up of UX/UI, brand and creative designers. You will be mentoring the team to ensure growth and development.
Our designers work with a tried and tested design process which includes: research, wireframing, ideation, brand style scaping, producing interface designs, and prototyping.
Communication skills are key within this role to be able to rationalize your design decisions to clients and work with the SEO and development team to ensure designs meet technical specifications.
What you will need:
* Confidence in fact-based user experience design methods and an understanding of user-first design.
* Strong knowledge of UX and UI design principles, including accessible web design.
* Strong knowledge of Figma, including creating designs, prototypes, and handling revision versioning.
* Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud programs (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).
* The ability to design for mobile first and knowledge of responsive design.
* Ability to provide feedback on designs, make suggestions and provide mentorship to other designers.
* An agile approach to your work, with the flexibility, initiative and multi-tasking skills to manage the design department and switch tasks as necessary.
Core responsibilities of the role:
* Gather and evaluate requirements in collaboration with clients and other team members across the company.
* Facilitate the client’s vision by conducting competitor and user research.
* Identify and troubleshoot UX problems (e.g. responsiveness, navigation, poor conversion rates) and devise elegant solutions for both desktop and mobile devices.
* Prepare and confidently present design ideas to internal teams, key stakeholders, and clients.
* Design and deliver wireframes, user stories, user journeys, sitemaps and concepts that lead to intuitive user experiences.
* Work closely with the SEO team to ensure UX/UI designs are optimized.
* Develop pixel-perfect UI mock-ups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and what they will look like.
* Add creative flair to interface designs by creating original design elements.
* Conduct adjustments based on user/client feedback.
* Adhere to style standards on fonts, colors and images.
* Produce responsive designs to a high standard.
* Take a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate your designs.
* Produce brand guideline documents including brand mission statements and values.
* Oversee and produce brand identity projects for clients, including ideation, stylescapes, brand rollout and artwork.
* Prepare artwork for professional printing services, ensuring artwork meets correct printing specifications.
* Work closely with the Project Manager and the design team in liaising with clients, making suggestions and improvements to ensure projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.
* Work with the Sales team to offer advice on design project leads and assist with the creation of sales proposals and pitches.
Accountabilities:
* Help drive the agency forward with the guidance of the management teams.
* Have a voice and initiative to make suggestions and improvements across the wider business.
* Professional consideration while being an advocate and representing Sherbet Donkey.
Desirable skills (not essential):
* Competence in producing motion graphics using Adobe After Effects.
* An interest or experience in Photography and Videography.
Experience/Qualifications:
* A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a design role, within an agency environment or similar.
