Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This role will be integral in supporting the provision of clinical services to patients on the wards. This role will involve the following:
* Ward based dispensing services to streamline patient discharges.
* Participation in an innovative 7-day pharmacy service.
* Engaging and working in collaboration with a broad multi-disciplinary team.
* Ensuring medication storage and security criteria are met to comply with national standards.
* Gaining an underpinning knowledge and practical experience of performing medicines management duties at ward level.
* Rotating through a wide range of specialties including acute medicine, critical care, neurology, paediatrics, cardiology renal, haematology and surgical/gastro medicine.

Registration
Essential criteria
* NVQ Level 3 plus accredited underpinning knowledge [BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent] or equivalent.
* Registered as a pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
* Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification or working towards.
* Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice
Desirable criteria
* Successfully completion of development courses relevant to practice
* HEE Medicines Optimisation course or equivalent (or to be achieved within 6 months of employment)
Experience
Essential criteria
* Knowledge of all regulations and legislation relevant to pharmacy, dispensary and clinical services
* Knowledge of pharmacy computer systems
* Substantial post registration experience in hospital setting
* Experience of training and supervision of pharmacy staff
* Experience of delivery service to patients or the public.

* Experience of research and audit work
