Payroll Advisor Location: St Albans, Hertfordshire Employment Type: Permanent Salary: Competitive, depending on experience Circa £35k pa Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Advisor to join a reputable payroll bureau based in St Albans. As a Payroll Advisor, you will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely payroll services to a diverse portfolio of clients. You will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processes, ensuring compliance with legislation, and providing exceptional customer service. Key Responsibilities: Process end-to-end payroll for multiple clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HMRC regulations. Handle payroll queries from clients and employees, providing clear and professional advice. Manage auto-enrolment pensions, statutory payments (SSP, SMP, etc.), and other payroll-related tasks. Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll legislation and ensure compliance. Liaise with HMRC and other external bodies as required. Support the implementation of new payroll systems or processes. Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity. Collaborate with the wider payroll team to ensure seamless service delivery. Requirements: Proven experience in a payroll role, ideally within a payroll bureau, accountancy practise or similar environment. Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, HMRC regulations, and statutory payments. Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., Star, Sage, BrightPay, or similar). Excellent attention to detail and strong numerical skills. Ability to manage multiple clients and meet deadlines. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. A proactive and customer-focused approach. CIPP qualification or willingness to work towards it is desirable but not essential.
