Azure Fiber is looking for a committed and reliable Optical Engineer to join our team. The role involves supporting the design and management of fibre products, assessing their associated parametric performance against specifications. You will integrate a team responsible for the management of our family of specifications for product and sub-assemblies, with emphasis on improvements on existing products and support the introduction of new products. You will work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, and R&D teams to support the development and production of hollowcore fiber and cable solutions. As such, this role involves hands-on work in our state of the art Romsey facility.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
* BSc in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics or other STEM disciplines.
* Proven work experience within product engineering in a manufacturing industry.
* Experience in statistical parameters control for manufacturing and product testing.
* Hands-on experience with microscopes, including but not limited to Scanning Electron Microscope and Optical Microscope.
Other Requirements:
* Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
* Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience in defect analysis using microscope techniques, including but not limited to Energy-dispersive Spectroscopy (SEM/EDS) and Raman Spectroscopy.
Responsibilities

* You will identify opportunities to affect downstream execution of projects by resolving issues and implementing design tradeoffs within scope (e.g., performance vs. reliability and manufacturing concerns).
* You will use data and statistical analyses to make recommendations to optimize existing processes, or create new processes that can be used by own team.
* You will identify common project risks (e.g., external supplier or partner delays, incomplete specs, or tool issues) at the outset of a project, and develop plans to address those risks.
