We are currently seeking a Senior Commissioning Engineer with a background in a highly regulated sector to work fully on-site. This is a permanent role, based within Stafford however UK wide travel will be essential depending on projects. Overnight stays may be required, but all expenses, including car allowance, travel, and food, will be covered. Summary of the Role: You will test and commission electrical transmission Substation Control Systems from minor modifications and additions through to complete replacements. This role is suitable for existing Commissioning Engineers or Test Engineers with a desire to move into site commissioning activities. Must be able to interpret designs (including schedules, drawings etc.), have an understanding of system engineering design and be prepared to be involved in and lead site visits for the purpose of installation & commissioning work. Full training on a bespoke range of Substation Control Systems will be provided. This position would suit someone who has a good grounding in engineering & who is keen to work on site. Technical supervision of installation works on client sites Ensure work (installation, test & commissioning) is carried out in line with agreed technical procedures, methods and standards Collation & management of project commissioning file Mark-up of drawings and schematics where changes are identified as required through test and commissioning activities Involvement in creation & preparation of commissioning/test documentation Deployment of configuration files to SCADA BCU’s, RTU’s, IED’s etc. and Network devices (Ethernet Switches etc.) including subsequent verification Preparation of site materials/commissioning spares/test documentation prior to project delivery on site. Essential Requirements Suitably qualified or experienced in an Electrical Engineering discipline Good understanding of Test/Commissioning techniques Experience in fault finding on electrical/electronic systems Understanding of communication networks and differing communication protocols and media types utilised (i.e. Ethernet over fibre optic, serial copper, etc.) Understand electrical safety and the control of isolations (LOTO) Computer literate with respect to the production of documentation (Microsoft Office) Computer literate with respect to the deployment of configuration files & verification to electrical devices Hold a current full driving licence (UK or be able to easily convert to full UK) Desirable Requirements Experience of writing, developing & contributing to specifications/plans (Commissioning or Test) Completed BS7671 18th Edition course (or previous iteration) Completed C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing course Experience of working on National Grid Substations Experience of Substation Secondary Systems Experience of industrial supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems Holds National Grid Commissioning Passport and/or knowledge of National Grid Procedures & Specifications Holds National Grid Competent Person status Working knowledge of AutoCAD (for minor changes/navigation of drawings) If this role is of interest, please hit APPLY NOW, or alternatively you can send your CV or call Amy Ewence at the Rullion HQ in Altrincham for more information.
