Rates of pay - £7.55 per hour, with annual increases Potential salary earnings once qualified £31k Working hours 39 per week (Monday to Friday) (inclusive of day release) 23 Days holiday & Bank Holidays Day release to attend college- paid On-the-job training Early finish Fridays Accredited training leading to a qualification Personal skills4life development Your own personal mentor What you can expect: As a qualified Carpenter/Joiner here at Novus, you would typically be working alongside an experienced team of trade colleagues undertaking refurbishment works in customers’ homes, the team are focused on passive & active fire protection through replacement of fire doors and fire stopping activity. You will complete a Level 2 Carpentry/Joiner qualification, and we will support you to become certified in FIRAS after your initial 12 months in role, with the end goal to become a qualified carpenter focusing on Passive Fire Protection at the end of your apprenticeship. The skills you would learn throughout your apprenticeship Work Methods – Understand the purpose of a range of equipment & tools and how to use and maintain them safely- compliance to regulations is particular importance in the Fire Protection sector. Product & Specifications - Gain expert knowledge of installation of passive and active fire protection works. Working with an experienced fitter you will learn how to fit fire doors, painting fire doors and complete fire stopping activities such as partitions in loft and void spaces. Preparation & Removal – Learn preparation methods of removal before installation of new products. Health & Safety – To learn the principles of health, safety and welfare and how these are applied in the workplace. Teamwork - The role will give the skills and abilities to not only be part of a team but to play an active role, typically our Fire Stopping work in teams of 2 people. Stakeholder Management – Developing and maintaining relationships with Managers, Colleagues and Customers What we are looking for Ideally, you will have a GCSE in Maths and English (Grades A to C/4-9), however, more importantly, you will have a passion for learning, a desire to work in a practical hands-on role, a great work ethic and a real can-do approach to everything you do. If you are already qualified, or studying towards a level 2 in Carpentry or Joinery you wouldn’t be eligible to apply for this opportunity, as you already have the knowledge our Apprenticeship program is designed to provide.
