Get Golfing CIO is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Golf Operations Assistant to join the team at Pyrford Lakes Golf Club. As a charity supporting struggling golf facilities in England, we are passionate about preserving and reviving the sport of golf by providing exceptional experiences for our members and visitors.
The Role
The Golf Operations Assistant will help to deliver a smooth and efficient operation for all users of the golf course, ensuring attentive and efficient service while enhancing the overall customer and member experience. They will use Get Golfing’s golf management software, ‘Golf Manager’, to ensure a high-quality experience for the club’s members, guests, and visitors.
Responsibilities
* Daily Golf Operations - Manage all aspects of daily golf operations, optimise tee-time reservations to maximise revenues, ensure efficient course flow and an optimal customer experience, including implementing Get Golfing’s ‘pairing up’ policy to maximise playing opportunities.
* Golf Retail - Maintain the golf shop inventory, ensuring an appropriate selection of merchandise, apparel, and equipment. Supervise the upkeep and maintenance of golf buggies, rental clubs, and other essential equipment, ensuring they remain in excellent working condition. At all times, ensure buggy rentals have signed liability forms.
* Deliver Exceptional Customer Service – Communicate with other Golf Ops assistants, marshals, and starters, to provide the appropriate level of service to all members and guests. Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally, ensuring prompt resolution of any issues to maintain high levels of integrity.
* Golf Days & Societies - Manage the golf day and society experience, ensuring societies receive value for money and their golf rounds are managed in an optimal way to increase the number of repeat bookings. Take the opportunity to upsell buggies, trolleys, and clubs, and sell balls and other retail items where possible.
* Event & Tournament Support – Help organize and run club competitions, corporate days, and tournaments, including scoring and player coordination.
* Health & Safety Compliance – Ensure all safety protocols are followed, including cart operation rules, course regulations, and emergency procedures.
* Communication with Grounds Team – Liaise with greenkeepers and course staff to relay course conditions, maintenance schedules, and any player concerns.
Qualifications
* Exceptional customer service and communication skills, ensuring positive interactions with members, guests, visitors, and colleagues.
* Genuine passion for golf, coupled with a deep understanding of the game, rules, and overall industry landscape.
* Proficiency in ‘Golf Manager’ software and Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to leverage technology for efficient operations and submission of reports.
* Strong organisational, customer, and problem-solving skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
* Proactive and results-oriented, with the ability to think strategically and act decisively.
* Ability to work independently and make effective decisions.
* Flexible schedule; ability to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as needed.
* A strong work ethic and understanding of the demands of golf.
* The ability to manage time effectively and to prioritise actions.
