The Resident Site Engineer will provide on-site technical support, maintenance, and repair of equipment, ensuring the smooth operation of systems at the customer’s site. Acting as a technical expert and primary point of contact, this role requires a proactive approach to resolving issues, optimizing performance, and maintaining excellent customer relationships.
Shifts are Monday to Friday with rotating shifts – 06:00 to 14:00 and 14:00 to 22:00. There are on-call requirements, and overtime for call-outs is paid at time and a half.
How will you contribute?
Maintenance and Technical Support
* Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
* Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair faults in mechanical, electrical, and automated systems.
* Monitor equipment performance, identify potential issues, and take corrective action to prevent downtime.
* Ensure all equipment is maintained in line with manufacturer recommendations and site-specific requirements.
On-Site Operations
* Act as the primary technical representative for the company at the customer’s site.
* Provide real-time support to address any issues that arise during operations.
* Coordinate with the customer and external contractors for planned maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
* Maintain a safe and organized working environment in line with site regulations.
Customer Relationship Management
* Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with the customer, acting as their first point of contact for all technical queries.
* Provide regular updates on maintenance activities, equipment performance, and any upcoming requirements.
* Train and support the customer’s staff on the operation and basic maintenance of equipment.
* Handle customer concerns promptly and professionally to maintain trust and satisfaction.
Documentation and Reporting
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used.
* Submit detailed service reports and equipment performance logs to the company and customer as required.
* Keep track of spare parts inventory and coordinate replenishment as needed.
Compliance and Safety
* Adhere to all health and safety standards, including risk assessments and method statements.
* Ensure compliance with both company policies and customer site regulations.
* Conduct regular safety checks on equipment and working practices.
What will you bring?
* Proven experience in a similar engineering role, preferably within automation, manufacturing, or distribution.
* Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automated systems.
* Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.
* Experience working on-site with direct customer interaction.
* Strong technical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with customers and colleagues.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Strong organizational skills for managing maintenance schedules and documentation.
* Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and maintenance software.
