Job Purpose
For the newly founded NIVP team, we are looking for a scientist who not only conducts excellent research but is also talented in managing a laboratory. NIVP is part of the Oncology Translational Research (OTR) team, and we aim to network closely with the other teams within and outside OTRO to contribute to preclinical and clinical development programs within GSK Oncology TA. The successful candidate will be part of a team that is being established in both Berlin and Stevenage. The core competence of the group is the establishment of new organoid models and their use in translational research, ranging from chemosensitivity testing to molecular manipulations for biomarker identification and target validation projects.
Key responsibilities
* Leading day-to-day business in our lab in Stevenage.
* Generate new patient-derived organoid models from individual patient tumor tissues protocols, oversight and performing the cell culture/ expansion.
* Coordinate resources between both sites (BLN/STV).
* Work closely with our organoid quality management performing quality control steps during the entire life cycle of the model (freeze/thaw cycles, morphology, cell density, proliferation rate and cytotoxicity evaluation).
* Collecting and reporting data to the lab head.
* Executing and delivering within the team and our international external and internal collaborations partners.

Basic Qualifications & Skills:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
* Master in Cell Biology/Oncology or related.
* Management skills.
* A multidisciplinary mix of training/expertise in Oncology and Cancer cell biology.
* Cellular and molecular Biology skills: organoid establishment from fresh or frozen human biopsies including liquid biopsies; 3D culture in Matrigel or scaffolds (spheroids and organoids); coculture of 3D organoids with immune cells; Fibroblasts isolation from human biopsies; culture of normal and tumor cells from primary samples or immortalized cell lines; Cytotoxicity assay.
* Biobank management.
* Ability to communicate with team members from different backgrounds by training/discipline, as well as senior members of the GSK stakeholders/research partner units.
Preferred Requirements:
Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred, if you do not have them, please still apply:
* Background of immunology.
* Experience in flow cytometry.
* Experience in collaboration with biopharmacompanies.
* Tracking samples/logistic.
