Registered Manager – Children's Residential Home

Social Care and Education is seeking a dedicated, experienced, and driven Registered Manager to lead a Children's Residential Home, ensuring young people receive the highest standard of care in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment. This role is ideal for an inspirational leader who can drive positive change, develop a strong staff team, and ensure full compliance with Ofsted regulations.
About the Role
The Registered Manager will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring it operates efficiently and meets the needs of the young people. The successful candidate will be committed to providing high-quality care, promoting independence, and creating a home environment where young people feel valued, supported, and empowered.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring excellent management skills, a deep understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and the ability to work closely with a range of professionals, families, and agencies.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead, motivate, and develop a team of residential support workers, ensuring they provide outstanding care
• Provide regular supervision, coaching, and performance management to support staff growth and retention
• Oversee recruitment, training, and induction, ensuring all staff are equipped with the skills and knowledge required to meet the needs of young people
• Foster a positive team culture, where staff feel valued, empowered, and
• Ensure the home is Ofsted-compliant, meeting all regulatory and legislative requirements
• Develop and maintain detailed care plans, risk assessments, and safeguarding procedures to meet the individual needs of each young person
• Ensure that staff implement behaviour support strategies effectively to manage challenging behaviours in a positive and proactive manner
• Conduct regular audits, inspections, and compliance checks to ensure high standards of care are maintained at all times
• Promote a child-centred approach, ensuring young people are involved in decisions about their care and their voices are heard
• Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring all safeguarding policies are adhered to and all concerns are reported appropriately
• Work closely with social workers, local authorities, healthcare professionals, education providers, and families to ensure a multi-agency approach to care
• Oversee key meetings, including Looked After Child (LAC) reviews, education planning meetings, and care planning meetings
• Support young people in education, employment, and personal development opportunities, encouraging them to build positive futures
• Manage budgets, financial planning, and resource allocation, ensuring cost-effective service delivery
• Develop and implement staff rotas, ensuring sufficient staffing levels to provide 24/7 support, including sleep-in and on-call duties
• Take responsibility for health and safety regulations, ensuring all aspects of the home meet legal requirements
• Ensure all incident reports, logs, and records are accurately maintained and reported in line with company and regulatory standards
What We Are Looking For
• A minimum of two years’ experience working in a children’s residential setting within the last five years
• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent
• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management or willingness to work towards it
• Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding, and child protection procedures
• Experience in leading a team, staff supervision, and performance management
• Ability to manage challenging behaviour in a calm, professional, and positive manner
• Confident in writing reports, managing audits, and ensuring regulatory compliance
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage budgets, rotas, and daily operations
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team while maintaining a high level of accountability
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
• A clear, enhanced DBS check
