Description Location: Loxley House, Station Street, Nottingham, NG2 3NG Contract Type: Permanent Salary: Grade G £33,945 rising to £36,648 per annum (pro rata for part time) Working Hours: 37 hours per week Worker Type: Hybrid Worker About the Role: Are you passionate about town planning and policy development? Are you able to analyse data and translate it into meaningful insights? We are looking for a Planning Policy and Research Officer to join our team within the Growth and City Development department. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting the Local Plan team. Your work will involve producing, analysing, and interpreting a wide range of economic, social, census, and demographic data to inform and support our statutory planning policy functions. Key Responsibilities: Policy Support: Contribute to the development and delivery of various corporate policy-making and planning services. Statutory Monitoring: Design and implement planning monitoring tools and systems to ensure timely delivery of planning services to ensure compliance with statutory planning requirements. Innovation: Utilise new technologies and systems to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the planning service. Data Analysis: Analyse and interpret statistical data on housing, the economy, employment, demography, and social issues to support planning policy development. Consultation and Advice: Provide expert advice on data and information sources, especially related to economic, employment, and demographic trends. What We’re Looking For: Technical Knowledge: An understanding of the planning system, current town planning issues, and knowledge of good practices in planning legislation, procedures, and consultation procedures. Analytical Skills: Proficiency in analysing complex data to identify key issues impacting planning policy and services. Strong numeracy skills and knowledge and experience of working with statistical data and analysis are essential. IT Proficiency: Extensive experience using Microsoft Excel, Access, or similar spreadsheet and database software. Communication Skills: Ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to a variety of audiences. Teamwork: Experience in working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and partners. Commitment to Development: A proactive approach to personal development and a commitment to supporting others grow professionally. Flexibility: Willingness to attend meetings outside of normal working hours when necessary. Location and Working Arrangements: This role is based at Loxley House, Station Street, Nottingham, NG2 3NG.
