About the Role
Reporting to the Commercial Director, as a Quantity Surveyor, you will be forging and developing successful relationships internally with respective colleagues and externally with clients, consultants, advisors, business partners, contractors and specialist sub-contractors.
A diverse role as a Quantity Surveyor your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
Responsible for the day-to-day management of the assistant quantity surveyor.
Responsibility for the internal procurement process of subcontractors. Receive and analyse quotations, liaising with Contracts Managers and Site Agents regarding price, proven history, availability etc.
Delivering projects within set budgets by the commercial director.
Produce valuation claims and issue to employers agents & clients.
Liaising with sub-contractors and consultants.
Attending site progress meetings.
Produce and send enquiries to subcontractors inviting them to tender and engagement with supply chain.
Notify in writing both successful and unsuccessful subcontractors in a timely manner
Produce and process formal subcontract documents and certify interim and final payments and final subcontract account.
Produce bill of quantity/activity schedule for payment purposes.
Produce cash flow forecasts for internal and client purposes.
Monitor and control income and expenditure on contracts e.g. interim/final applications for payment/final accounts/payments for late monies etc. liaising where necessary with the relevant people e.g. engineers, clients etc.
Produce relevant monthly reports for the Commercial Director e.g. cost and value comparisons, turnover forecasts etc. ensuring information is complete and accurate.
Provide advice and support to the site team in order to optimise the use of contract resources.
Produce accurate bills of quantities for tendering opportunities.
Produce & return accurate tender estimations/quotes to clients.
What you will need (skills & experience):
5+ years experience in a similar role
Good Client interfacing skills and experience
Management and development of junior commercial staff
Quantity Surveying Degree or industry standard (RICS)
Record of success and experience in similar roles
Excellent prioritisation and organisational skills
Self-motivated, and able to work on own initiative; enthusiastic with can do attitude
Good problem-solving skills, the ability to anticipate potential problems and overcome them effectively.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels including directors
Can maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality
Excellent time management skills and able to work to deadlines
Proficiency in PC operating systems (Word / Excel / Outlook / Cost X)
Full Driving Licence
Availability to commute
Qualifications Required
Quantity Surveying Degree or industry standard (RICS)
