Job Summary
St. Andrews College Language Schools is a British Council Accredited provider, running summer school courses in various locations across the UK. We are looking for enthusiastic, experienced, and engaging teachers for summer 2025. We have centres in: SCOTLAND (Edinburgh, Glasgow, Paisley, Stirling & Ayr) and ENGLAND (London, Chatham, Colchester, Canterbury, Gloucester, Keele, Bognor Regis & Brighton). We have 2 - 6 week residential and non-residential TEFL teaching posts available for summer 2025.
Details of Position
TEFL Teachers
St Andrews College Language School teachers are responsible for the planning and teaching of effective EFL classes to 11-18-year-old students. As an English Language Teacher, you are responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering the St. Andrews College curriculum to a diverse student body in age, culture, language, and ability. Class sizes are a maximum of 18. Students receive around 15 hours of tuition per week and partake in cultural activities and excursions with the activities staff.
Teachers' hours are spread over a 35 to 42-hour working week depending on the campus and programme offered. Class contact hours will average 30 - 36 hours per week. Administration (e.g. meetings, updating records of work) and lesson preparation time is included within the contracted week. The dates, days, and times may vary according to the needs of the campus.
Full lesson plans and materials are provided and have been specifically designed to fit the needs of our students and teachers. Lessons are task-based and communicative, integrating 21st Century skills, such as digital literacy, critical thinking, and engagement with real-world issues.
We are dedicated to the development of our staff and hold regular CPD sessions.
St. Andrews College Language Schools is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All successful candidates are required to provide criminal checks including a valid PVG/Enhanced DBS Certificate and/or overseas police checks.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Awareness of the responsibilities of working with students under 18.
Undergraduate (Level 6) Degree + Cambridge CELTA/Trinity CERT TESOL, or a QTS award if it is primary level, or secondary level English or Foreign Languages.
Knowledge of the use of English and the linguistic systems underlying it.
Excellent communication skills (both written and spoken).
Flexibility in both teaching and non-teaching duties, and the ability to work well with colleagues.
Ability to work with IT systems, Google Drive, to maintain records and access resources.
Smart and tidy appearance.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
Experience in both the teaching and welfare of students under 18.
Experience of working with multicultural and multilingual groups.
Experience of preparing students for English language exams, namely Trinity GESE.

Director of Studies: £715 - £800 per week
(£786 - £895 per week including Holiday pay)
Senior Teacher: £630 - £715 per week
(£703 - £804 per week including holiday pay)
Teacher: £661 - £771 per week including holiday pay)
Holiday pay is accrued in accordance with UK laws and regulations and is paid at the end of the contract.
