Senior Legal Executive, Temporary, Full-time, Belfast City Centre Your new company Hays is partnering with a public sector organisation to recruit a Senior Legal Executive on a temporary full-time basis. Your new role To process an assigned caseload. To support and assist Legal Services as and when necessary and where directed. To represent the organisation at the hearing of cases before the Small Claims Court. To assist solicitors in the preparation of papers for Counsel and to attend Counsel. To assist solicitors as directed in the defence of judicial review applications. To assist solicitors with the provision of accurate and timely advice on matters relating to the functions and exercise of the powers and duties of the organisation and public bodies to whom the department provides a service. To manage assigned staff as appropriate. To participate, as directed by the Divisional Solicitor, in corporate working groups and project teams. To assist the Records Manager with the maintenance and distribution of corporate guidelines on record management, freedom of information and data protection. To support the Records Manager in providing advice and guidance to all departments in respect of the effective and efficient management of their records, including the development of specific arrangements to ensure that each department is encouraged to meet legislative requirements and best practice What you'll need to succeed A third level qualification in a relevant subject such as Law or Business Studies or equivalent qualification and be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples on the application form, at least one year’s experience of working within a legal practice or in a legal department. This experience in a legal practice or legal department must include at least one year’s experience in each of the following three areas: OR Be able to demonstrate on the application form, by providing personal and specific examples, at least two years’ experience of working within a legal practice or in a legal department. This involves: - Management of a litigation caseload; - Undertaking research and conducting investigations to assist in preparation of legal cases; and - Providing accurate and timely legal advice and guidance to departments in relation to record management matters.
