Synergize Consulting have recently partnered with a innovative engineering consultancy to conduct pre-concept and concept marine engineering design studies, for their customer within the Aerospace, Defence, Security & Space sector.
As part of this partnership, we are currently seeing several Supportability Engineers to join us with the offering of an initial 5 month deliverable based contract (OUTSIDE IR35). The role will be based out of the customers busy and secure site in Bristol, and applicants must be willing able to be site based a minimum of 3 days per week.
Due to the nature of our client’s work, the role will require the successful applicant to hold security clearance to SC level or be will and able to undergo the Vetting process to achieve this.
The principle aims of this teams is to mature the customer support solution, to inform options analysis and down selection for the Outline Business Case whilst advancing technical readiness for the Assessment Phase. Studies will ensure that the illustrative design team and project team understand the support drivers, the impact of choices in setting requirements, and in the evaluation of bids.
The Supportability Engineering tasks could any of the below deliverables.
* Supportability Cases
* Reliability & Maintainability Case
* Design for Support Assessment Reports
* Operational Cycle and Sustainment Assessment Reports
To be successful, applicants will have the following Skills, experience and education:
* Degree qualification in engineering at either Bachelor’s or Masters level;
* Be a supportability engineer, Chartered Engineer or equivalent, with 3-5 or more years’ experience working at that level. If not Chartered, then candidates must have a minimum of 7-9 years’ experience and evidence of ongoing CPD and relevant innovation in recent tasks must be provided;
* Recent experience (last 3 years) of working on naval ship studies;
* Recent experience (last 3 years) of assessing naval platform supportability options and establishing cost-benefit drivers through analysis of a range of scenarios, including alternative acquisition and support models (e.g. interim support) with a good understanding of the cost profiling of support for a new ship acquisition programme;
* Experience of Naval and Commercial ship supportability models;
* Ability, experience and proof of producing high quality, well-structured and logically written reports within tight timescales that clearly communicate an understanding of the task, the work carried out, conclusions and recommendations made to the sponsor;
