We are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a leading construction contractor (tier1) delivering high-profile public sector projects. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your career within a structured and supportive environment, working on complex and impactful projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Start-Up & Procurement
1. Assist in subcontract and materials procurement, ensuring compliance with industry best practices and legal requirements.
2. Prepare subcontract invitations to tender and evaluate returns based on cost, quality, and programme considerations.
3. Develop an understanding of pre-contract management and commercial start-up procedures.
2. Commercial & Cost Management
1. Support the preparation of valuations, invoicing, and timely payment applications.
2. Assist in cost monitoring, waste reconciliation, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
3. Contribute to forecasting and the production of Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reports.
3. Contract Administration & Change Control
1. Support subcontract administration, including issuing instructions and preparing payments.
2. Recognise and document project changes, ensuring all associated costs are captured.
3. Assist in final account preparation, variations, and dispute resolution.
4. Risk & Project Control
1. Develop an understanding of project risks and opportunities.
2. Support accurate progress reporting and programming requirements.
5. Project Completion & Close-Out
1. Assist in final account settlement and project handover documentation.
2. Ensure accurate record-keeping and contract compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
What We're Looking For:
A degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline. Experience in assisting with procurement, cost management, and contract administration. Strong numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
Understanding of NEC or JCT contracts (preferred). Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
