Senior Structural Engineer (up to Associate-Level)
Marple, Greater Manchester
£45,000 - £65,000+ DOE | Hybrid Working Available
We're working with a well-regarded structural engineering consultancy seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Structural Engineer-or potentially someone at Associate level-to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a capable and confident Senior structural engineer looking for a role that offers autonomy, flexibility, and a chance to work across a diverse range of projects. Whether you're a senior engineer looking to step into a broader role, or already operating at associate level, this position offers a clear pathway for progression and real ownership over your work.
The business operates with a high level of trust and flexibility. There's no micromanagement-just an expectation that work is delivered to a high standard, on time, and with a positive, solutions-focused approach. Most projects are relatively local to the practice, with occasional travel further afield and very infrequent overnight stays. Hybrid working is standard, with most of the team spending two to three days in the office.
While this is not a survey-focused role, you'll be expected to assist with survey work where needed. Typically, the workload is usually split between design and inspection work, but that split is flexible depending on your experience and preferences.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the structural design and analysis of a range of building projects using a variety of materials including steel, concrete, timber, and masonry
Produce and review structural calculations, technical reports, and construction drawings
Coordinate with architects, contractors, surveyors, and other consultants to deliver coordinated design solutions
Attend site visits and carry out structural surveys, inspections, and assessments
Oversee project delivery from concept to completion, including planning and building regulations submissions
Support and mentor junior engineers and technicians as appropriate
Ensure that project deadlines, budgets, and quality expectations are consistently met
Requirements:
Minimum 8 years' experience in structural engineering
Chartered or working towards chartered status with IStructE or ICE
Strong working knowledge of relevant design codes and standards
Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., Tekla TSD, TEDDS, Robot, Revit, AutoCAD)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
Confident working independently and liaising directly with clients and collaborators
A broad understanding of different building types and structural systems
The role would suit someone with a practical, hands-on approach who enjoys variety and wants to work in a collaborative, supportive environment. You'll be given the freedom to get on with your work, trusted to make decisions, and supported to grow professionally.
If you're a strong senior engineer-or associate-level-with the technical expertise and communication skills to thrive in a dynamic consultancy environment, we'd love to hear from you.
