We are currently looking for a Workshop Operative to join our team in Southampton.
Location: Southampton (SO15 0AB)
Hours of work: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring seamless operation of the Workshop facility and Transport Yard through efficient management of vehicle movement, performing maintenance and general repair tasks, and dropping off trucks and presenting trailers for MOT inspections.
Key responsibilities:
1. Safely move and park vehicles (trucks, trailers, and other equipment) on site to optimise space and minimise damage.
2. Operate Tug and Forklift.
3. Perform general site maintenance and repair work.
4. Shunt vehicles for wash.
5. Collect parts from local suppliers.
6. Present vehicles and trailers for service and MOT inspections.
7. Load and unload test weights for roller brake testing of the trailers using Heavy Lifting Equipment.
8. Complete basic vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
9. Act as a relief HGV Driver.
10. Act as a relief Steam Cleaner.
11. Carry out daily walks and Yard checks to ensure any issues are dealt with; as required, reported to relevant departments.
12. Carry out traffic control duties.
Key requirements:
1. Holder of a current and valid Class 1 driving licence.
2. A versatile and flexible approach to work.
3. Ability to perform tasks of a physical nature.
4. A strong team player, encouraging a team-working and safety-conscious environment.
