Pulse have recently partnered with one of the UK’s specialist provider of diagnostic and healthcare solutions. We are currently looking for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist, who can provide overall support for the clinical leadership of the service. The post is based in York, which is easily accessible via public transport. This position is a 6-month fixed term contract starting in July.
About the role:
As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will be working in a 26-bed Specialist Neurorehabilitation centre with acquired brain injury, traumatic brain injury, severe neurological conditions, complex stroke, and spinal cord injury. Set on a 3.5-acre plot, surrounded by mature woodlands and well-maintained grounds.
Your main responsibilities as a Speech and Language Therapist:
1. Provide assessment and management of communication and swallowing disorders
2. Devise evidence-led therapy programmes for patients at a specialist level, with an emphasis on multidisciplinary working to achieve the best outcomes for our patients
3. Develop your skills in clinical supervision and informal mentoring of Speech and Language Therapy assistants and students
4. Participate in service delivery audit and quality improvement initiatives
What we are looking for in a Speech and Language Therapist:
5. HCPC registration
6. Experience in working with aphasia, cognitive communication disorder, dysarthria, apraxia, and dysphagia is essential
7. Specialist level dysphagia competency on RCSLT framework
8. Ability to motivate patients over long periods
