Job overview
Opportunity to join the Site Management Team as a Band 7 Site Nurse Practitioner at Worthing Hospital.
We are a small, well-motivated and hard-working team using our clinical as well as management and organisational skills on a daily basis.
Our challenges vary every day, making it a great role for staff to liaise with the many specialities and departments within the hospital. We are often dealing with clinical emergencies anywhere on site, where you will need to work as an autonomous practitioner as well as part of an emergency team. The role also involves managing ongoing bed capacity throughout the day, so if you like solving puzzles, then this is the role for you.
We offer you an induction period and support you at every stage of your progression.
The role carries significant responsibilities such as managing site issues on a 24-hour basis and involving night rotation, where you will be part of the Hospital at Night team.
You will need to be a Band 6 with at least 2 years experience at that level; also, ward management would be an advantage. This is a great opportunity to broaden your knowledge.
If you are looking for a challenge, then this is it; you will need to be able to communicate effectively, solve complex problems whilst thinking on your feet, and have good negotiation skills, as well as a sense of humour.
Main duties of the job
1. Responsibility for the timely and appropriate clinical placement of patients by planning and managing the effective utilisation of inpatient beds providing an efficient and effective service for both emergency and elective admissions.
2. To provide senior nurse support through advanced assessment skills, clinical interventions and clinical management support for all the clinical areas where needed.
3. To ensure that patients receive timely assessment, referral and transfer from the A&E department and assessment areas in order that clinical care can be optimum and the national priorities achieved.
4. To troubleshoot during the patient pathway to assist the clinical areas to improve the patient experience.
5. You will act as the point of contact during the out of hours period, liaising with the on-call teams as necessary. You will be responsible for enacting the overnight plans discussed with the Clinical Site Manager.
