SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Salary: £83 - £100 per day
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Part Time, Monday to Friday, 12pm to 3:30pm
GSL Education are seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support a young child in the Early Years Foundation Stage at a Client Primary School in York, North Yorkshire. The role requires someone who is patient, understanding, and skilled in supporting both physical and communication needs.

As children progress from the youngest pre-schoolers to Reception, their curriculum outlines the essential vocabulary, knowledge, and experiences that will prepare them for Key Stage One and beyond.
SEN Teaching Assistants Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 support to a child with Cerebral Palsy over the lunch period and during their afternoon sessions, ensuring their safety within school.
Assist with mobility around the classroom and school environment.
Implement tailored communication techniques and work with non-verbal communication methods.
Encourage independence and provide personal care assistance if needed.
Be involved in tracking, assessing and providing feedback on the child's progress.
SEN Teaching Assistants Requirements:
Must hold the Right to Work in the UK.
Experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant, particularly with children in EYFS.
You should have a relevant childcare or education-based qualification.
Understanding of the needs of children with Cerebral Palsy.
Have patience, empathy, and a positive approach to helping children.
Experience with non-verbal communication techniques.
Hold a Child only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
