More information is available on our Career site at www.fife.gov.uk/jobs/supportingstatement Job Details Fife Council's Legal Litigation Team is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated solicitor to provide legal support in a range of employment law matters for Fife Council, the largest employer in Fife. You will be part of the wider Litigation Team, who undertake a range of litigation services to client services across the council. You will be responsible for managing your own case load and representing the council in a variety of matters. This role will involve dealing with and advising on the ACAS and Tribunal process as well as drafting associated correspondence and documentation and conducting employment tribunal hearings. This is an excellent opportunity to combine a fulfilling and challenging role within a supportive team environment whilst gaining experience of the workings of local government and its legal affairs. As a progressive employer, we offer a “blended working” arrangement with home working opportunities and occasional office-working as required. While the significant part of the role can and will be carried out remotely, candidates should be able to travel to and attend office locations, meetings, court and Tribunal appearances as required. The Person You will be educated to SCQF level 11, which includes a Masters Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, SVQ level 5 or equivalent eg Degree in Law and Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice or equivalent. You must have an in depth understanding of UK employment law and the legal framework surrounding employment contracts. You will possess good negotiating skills together with strong verbal and written communication abilities, and be committed to establishing strong client relationships and proactive in driving matters forward. You will require to have meticulous attention to detail when handling settlement agreements, contracts and Tribunal cases and hold strong organisational skills to meet strict deadlines. This role offers a wide range of professionally interesting and diverse work. You should hold a Law Degree (LLB) and a Diploma in Legal Practice or an equivalent. You also should be a qualified solicitor holding, or eligible to hold, an unrestricted Practicing Certificate issued by the Law Society of Scotland, be able to work under limited supervision with well-developed communication and IT skills. Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
