The Business Development Director will be responsible for owning the commercial pipeline of opportunities across Europe, overseeing the growth and conversion of new commercial partnerships, and increasing the business’ presence in the region. The role spans the identification, creation, qualification, and conversion of new partners for solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) and SOEC technology. You will be accountable for meeting order book targets in line with an ambitious business development strategy.
Main Duties
* Represent the business across the region at CXO level
* Find, pitch, and secure new business selling SOFC and SOEC in Europe
* Manage the acquisition and qualification of new market and partner opportunities within the region to ensure they fit with Ceres’ growth plans, engineering capacity, and relevance to SOFC and SOEC products
* Work across functions as progression is made from marketing through to the technical and commercial arms of the business to support the conversion of opportunities
* Collaborate with Business Line Directors and other key internal stakeholders in pre-contract discussions with potential partners to support the creation of business cases, develop and negotiate strong opportunities, and assist in cost/price modelling
* Collaborate with the product strategy and marketing team to ensure clear technology positioning, segmentation, messaging, and support for the production of specific collateral
* Act as a strong link between the commercial team and technical team to provide a clear voice of the customer and ensure a sound understanding of the technology roadmap
* Nurture relevant stakeholder networks in the region to further strengthen the brand image, e.g., by attending appropriate conferences and events to promote our technology
* Maintain up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of the organisations and competitors’ products and/or services
* Act as an inspiring leader and ambassador for the technology internally, leading by example and promoting the business’ values of wholehearted commitment, creative collaboration, and pioneering with precision as displayed through personal behaviours
Minimum Requirements
* Experienced and established Business Development leader in Europe
* Experience of process industries and/or power generating industries such as gas production, steel production, refineries, nuclear power, gas turbines, etc
* Undergraduate or graduate degree in business management, engineering, finance, or related subject
* Highly ambitious with proven entrepreneurial capability
* Expert salesperson able to synthesise and communicate compelling sales messages at an exceptional level
* Innovative, creative, solutions-oriented
* Proactive in identifying and solving complex problems that impact the direction of the whole business
* Confident engaging at executive levels in large enterprises
* Able to influence and negotiate at all levels, particularly CXO level
* Determined, driven, and focused to convert prospects into partners
* Ability to converse at both a technical and a commercial/strategic level
* Ability to effectively communicate complex technical and financial information to stakeholders and prospective partners
* Highly autonomous self-starter
* Excels in undefined and novel environments
