Community Warden - 1 permanent & 1 temporary contract up to 6 months
This is an exciting time to join Stroud District Council’s Community Services Team as we take the next steps towards delivering our services in an asset-based community development way. This role plays a pivotal role in fostering strong and cohesive communities where residents feel safe, respected, and supported.
About the role
In this role, you will act as a friendly face, helping to address various concerns, supporting residents, and building positive relationships. You will be responsible for monitoring and patrolling areas across the district, working with the community to prevent and deter anti-social behaviour and criminal activities. When prevention does not work, investigating fly-tipping and flyposting incidents may be required. You will work in partnership with the network of established Community Hubs providing advice, guidance, and signposting support via monthly drop-in sessions.
Working with the most vulnerable residents is a key part of this role, and you will be responsible for installing Careline equipment and carrying out wellbeing checks in residents’ properties.
We are a forward-thinking, dedicated, and community-focused team. The team you’ll be joining works together with community organisations and residents to create strong, safe, and vibrant communities across the district.
About you
You’ll have experience of working in a community-facing role that requires excellent communication and strong problem-solving skills. You will be passionate and enthusiastic about delivering exceptional customer service whilst working under pressure. You’ll have a sound knowledge and experience of:
1. A proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential safety and security risks.
2. A compassionate and trustworthy demeanour, with a commitment to providing exceptional service to the community.
3. Being highly motivated and customer solution-focused.
4. The ability to use your own initiative to solve problems.
For an informal discussion, please contact Tony Dix, Community Safety Manager, or Hannah Drew, Communities Development Manager on 01453 766321 or community.services@stroud.gov.uk.
Interview date: 31st January 2025
We currently have the following roles available:
1. 1 x Community Warden (6 month fixed term contract)
2. 1 x Community Warden (Full Time Permanent)
