We’re seeking a Commercial Finance Manager to join our State Schools Finance Team a fast-paced and dynamic environment where financial excellence meets strategic growth. What you’ll do:
* Provide Commercial Leadership – Support contract performance, identify growth opportunities, and optimise profitability while minimising risk.
* Ensure Accurate Financial Reporting – Produce management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and balance sheet reviews, meeting group deadlines.
* Drive Strategic Decision-Making – Gather, analyse, and present data to enhance profitability and business growth.
* Support Contract Management – Ensure billing aligns with contract mechanisms, manage financial compliance, and oversee cost control.
* Enhance Operational Performance – Work closely with site management to improve financial processes and reporting.
* Client & Stakeholder Engagement – Act as a trusted financial advisor, supporting contract negotiations, client queries, and commercial strategies.
What you bring:
* Qualified Accountant – ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent qualification.
* Strong commercial acumen – Skilled in decision-making, negotiation, and financial strategy.
* Effective communication – Able to simplify complex financial and commercial data for diverse stakeholders.
* High numeracy skills – Comfortable handling complex financial assessments under pressure.
* Legal expertise – Experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contractual terms.
* Coaching & mentorship – Ability to train and motivate operational teams to drive commercial success.
* Influencing & relationship management – Skilled in identifying key decision-makers and positively influencing outcomes.
* Business awareness – Proactively identifies risks and opportunities to enhance financial performance.
* Project planning & execution – Experienced in delivering business initiatives within large organizations, ensuring timely completion and anticipated benefits.
* Continuous improvement & innovation – Proven ability to set tangible targets, drive efficiency, and leverage external insights for innovation.
* Leadership & accountability – Communicates clear objectives, takes ownership of decisions, and leads cross-functional teams effectively.
* Technological proficiency – Strong interest in financial systems, databases, and advanced Excel tools.
Package Description
£45000-£55000 per annum, eligible for £1300 annual fund + Sodexo benefits
40 hours per week
