The Milken Institute’s events and programmatic activities, involve the exchange of ideas with leaders from around the world. The Institute hosts more than 200 events each year, with our annual flagship event, Global Conference, bringing together 4,500 participants from around the world, featuring more than 900 speakers throughout 200 sessions over the course of the event. About The Position The Institute is looking for an Associate focused on European programming, audience building, and fundraising. The Associate will work across the organisation with programming colleagues to help deliver European content for our global summits, support programming of events in Europe, as well as policy roundtables reflecting our European research team’s areas of focus. The Associate will also contribute to our research by writing up the outputs from our events and identifying participants to attend. They will work alongside business development to curate a pipeline of programmatic sponsors, drafting proposals to support the overall fundraising process. Successful candidates will apply their own subject-matter expertise and professional working knowledge to support the organisation’s programme development and event execution. Attention to detail, organisation, time management and the ability to work proactively across time zones are the keys to success in this position. Responsibilities Help to deliver a process with programming, business and research colleagues, to ensure that relevant and impactful content is highlighted at our events. Own stakeholder lists for priority policy areas and fundraising goals, helping to deliver Roundtables with audiences curated to affect the meaningful change. Work alongside content experts, event leads, and business development colleagues to make sure that events are delivered on time and to quality standards, and any follow-ups are actioned. Support development of a pipeline of engaging speakers and content for our year-round London programming. Internal Coordination: Support inter-departmental communications to ensure collaboration and effective processes, and that deadlines are met for relevant deliverables. Keep relevant databases and Institute Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems up-to-date, and ensure internal processes are followed. Maintain collaborative working documents within the programming department and across other teams as necessary/relevant. Relationship Management and Stakeholder Engagement: Support the development of a programmatic funding pipeline, drafting proposals, and managing follow-ups. Suggest targeted stakeholder engagement for year-round programming, and manage in CRM systems. Support speaker outreach and relationship management when drafting speaker invitations, researching principal expertise, and identifying direct/secondary paths of communication to principal offices. Support audience building, fundraising and outreach, particularly to European stakeholders who we are targeting with our research and programmatic work. Duties as assigned. Qualifications A generalist by nature, but with interest in, and working knowledge of, topics such as: international affairs, economics and financial markets, tech and artificial intelligence, and global investment and business trends. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and to work collaboratively. The confidence to interact professionally and competently with corporate leaders, public figures, government officials, dignitaries, and other global policy leaders. A motivated self-starter who is team-oriented, with an ability to seek out tasks when work is completed and assist colleagues to ensure goals, and deadlines are met. Multi-task and handle multiple complex projects simultaneously. Able to embrace an attitude of "no job is too small,”, with excellent attention to detail. Requirements Bachelor’s degree required. Knowledge of European Union and an interest in European affairs is an advantage. 1-2 years of professional working experience. Ability to adapt to fluctuating business hours based on workflows and relevant time zones across Milken Institute offices. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word required. Experience with Salesforce preferred. Fluency in English required. Fluency in German would be an asset. Working Conditions & Travel Requirements This position will work in a professional office environment. This person will also be required to travel occasionally to other offices and/or venues to assist with events as needed, requiring occasional work outside of traditional hours. Additionally, this position requires interacting virtually on a regular basis with Milken Institute staff based in other locations in the United States and around the world. Note We are interested in qualified candidates who are eligible to work in the United Kingdom. This position will be working a hybrid model, where you will be expected to report to the London office location 3-days per week (Tuesday - Thursday), this is subject to change.
