At Octopus Group, we’re entrepreneurs and we’re investors, on a mission to back the people, ideas and industries that will change the world. 25 years in, we’re still privately owned by our founders and staff and a B Corp packed with colleagues that believe that business, done well, can be one of the most powerful drivers of change in the world.
We’re on a mission to help customers in even more ways. We want Octopus to be the first brand you think of when you want to make the right decisions at moments in your life. So, we’re obsessed with making it easier, cheaper and more exciting to get help. We succeed where others have failed by really engaging customers and taking the administrative burden off their shoulders – not just educating them.
About the Role
About the team & role
We are a small team that is part of the Strategy Team within Octopus Money. However, we have a broad mandate to help Octopus Group identify new opportunities and build new products in Octopus Investments as well as in 4 entrepreneur-led businesses (Octopus Money, Octopus Legacy, Seccl and amicable).
We are looking for motivated individuals to join our team to lead, in the first instance, the strategic development and launch of new products for Octopus Investments, a private market manager with £13bn under management across venture capital, real estate and infrastructure. The successful candidate will work across companies and teams at Octopus Group, as well as with external partners, to scope and deliver industry-changing projects. We have a strong bias to delivery and believe employees thrive when they obsess over outcomes not inputs.
Qualifications
What are we looking for?
1. Passion, and the confidence to believe that we can change established industries for the good of the customer.
2. Generalists with high degrees of resilience and comfort working with ambiguity at pace. For these roles in particular, we are looking for individuals with prior management consulting experience as this lends itself well to the scope of the role and skills required.
3. Exposure to commercial, distribution and/or new product development (bonus if in the financial services industry or growth organisations).
4. A proven ability to effectively coordinate across multiple groups of stakeholders, build consensus and lead teams to execute successful projects.
5. A bias to action and the drive/willingness to get things done in the most direct way, in the absence of formal processes and procedures.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – the ability to work with anyone and everyone.
7. Strong organisational, planning and project management skills.
8. Good analytical abilities and a basic level of comfort with financial modelling.
We encourage you to apply even if you don’t tick every box. What’s the worst that can happen?

Our Values
At our core, we believe that how a company behaves is just as important as what it does. That’s why we chose to become an accredited B Corp (the equivalent of a Fairtrade coffee stamp but for companies) and to change our Articles of Association so that the interests of all our stakeholders – employees, customers, communities, environment and shareholders – are considered in every decision we make.
We are committed to building a workplace where diversity is valued, and inclusion is a priority. By providing equal opportunities for growth and development, we embrace and celebrate all races, genders, religions, sexual orientations, ages, disabilities, and socio-economic backgrounds. We believe teams achieve their best when every member feels safe, respected and empowered to be their authentic selves.
We're proud to be disability confident and are committed to supporting candidates with a disability, including neurodiversity and mental health conditions, throughout the recruitment process. Applicants are welcome to opt-in to the disability confident scheme as part of our application process. If you require any adjustments to the interview process, we’ll be happy to accommodate where possible.
