Join Evoralis to develop enzymes for a circular plastic economy
Evoralis, a spin-out from the University of Cambridge, is on a mission to enable the textile industry to become truly sustainable and circular. We use an ultra-fast screening platform to develop enzymes for breaking down mixed and blended textile fibres into their constituent building blocks for the production of virgin-grade textile fibres.
In order to further accelerate the discovery and evolution of our enzymes, we are looking for a dedicated Bioinformatician to play a pivotal role in our ultrahigh-throughput workflows, from experimental design to analysis. You will be responsible for integrating modern computational methods with our revolutionary & cutting-edge wet-lab approaches.
Key responsibilities:
1. Analyse, manage and organise datasets generated from different protein engineering campaigns, including large datasets from high-throughput screening
2. Work with Scientists from different fields as Protein Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry and Chemistry
3. Develop and integrate data science, automation and machine-learning approaches in protein discovery and optimisation
4. Automate the capture, organisation and analysis of experimental data generated in the lab
5. Maintain good records of computational work and framework
Essential skills, qualifications and experience:
1. A Master's or Ph.D degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, or similar discipline, and a minimum of 4 years of related experience working with genomics data - Industry or academia
2. Experience with bioinformatics sequence analysis and alignment tools
3. Experience in using common data analysis packages and bioinformatics tools
4. Experience with Linux environments and version control (git)
5. Good knowledge of R and/or Python
6. Record of scientific publications and/or contribution to the scientific community in the bioinformatics field
7. Demonstrated ability to collaborate closely with Scientists across R&D
8. The drive to work both independently and collaboratively, employing strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Our ideal candidate: desirable skills, qualifications and experience:
1. Experience with DNA or RNA library design
2. Experience on next-generation sequencing, NGS
3. Communicate outcomes effectively internally and externally
Why Evoralis?:
1. Be part of the solution, making plastics and textiles truly sustainable and circular
2. Collaborate with experts from diverse fields with unique perspectives
3. Enjoy the opportunity for genuine innovation
4. Get in on the ground of a pioneering start-up aiming to revolutionise plastic recycling
