About the role
As Head of Commercial Development - Life Sciences at Boots UK, you will help shape the future of healthcare services within the pharmacy sector, improving Boots' strategic goals in the Life Sciences domain. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Managing the Commercial Development Team: Overseeing and guiding the performance and development of the Commercial Development Team, ensuring they work effectively and support the broader goals of the business.
2. Developing Commercial Opportunities: Lead the identification and growth of new commercial opportunities within Life Sciences, including clinical trials and observational research studies. Manage the entire bid and tender process to ensure successful outcomes.
3. Strategic Proposition Development: Create and refine Life Sciences business propositions for Boots UK, including testing and diagnostics, ensuring that solutions are viable and ready for the next stage of development.
4. Clinical Research Support: Collaborate on operational plans for clinical research, finding and addressing risks while ensuring effective communication and escalation processes are in place.
5. Compliance and Quality Oversight: Ensure clinical research projects meet compliance and quality standards as outlined by sponsor contracts and in accordance with ICH/GCP and all relevant regulations.
6. Collaboration with Quality Teams: Partner with the Quality Team to enhance the clinical trials business framework, driving growth and ensuring Boots remains at the forefront of the Life Sciences sector.
7. Stakeholder and Ecosystem Engagement: Help shape the future of community pharmacy by identifying and applying new value opportunities across both public and private clinical trials ecosystems.
8. Developing Healthcare Journeys: Work to create innovative healthcare journeys that improve the customer experience across a wide range of health conditions, integrating Boots' assets to enhance clinical trial services.
9. Driving Healthcare Business Initiatives: Engage with internal and external specialists to develop healthcare initiatives that align with the UK Life Sciences vision and unlock new business opportunities.
10. Creating Comprehensive Care Pathways: Work with different Boots teams (e.g., Opticians, Hearingcare) to design holistic solutions that offer customers seamless and convenient care pathways.
What you'll need to have
1. Experience in Pharmacy Practice: An understanding of pharmacy operations across various settings, with a focus on how these connect and contribute to the wider healthcare system.
2. Contract Management Skills: Experience managing contracts with an eye for detail-whether it's ensuring compliance, or seeing agreements through to successful completion.
3. Strategic Thinking: Experience with thinking big picture, spotting opportunities and challenges within the Life Sciences sector, and creating thoughtful solutions that drive success over time.
4. Curiosity: A genuine interest in learning and staying up-to-date with the latest in healthcare and Life Sciences, combined with a focus toward your own growth and development.
5. Collaborative and Agile Mindset: A team-focused approach where we enjoy working together, all while embracing change and adapting when needed.
