Project Quantity Surveyor Job Type: Agency – Hourly Paid, 40 Hours per Week Duration: 2 Years (Starting May 2025), to be reviewed and re-assessed thereafter Rate: Competitive We are seeking an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor a to join our client's team at the Humber Refinery. This pivotal role will involve providing contract administration, financial measurement, valuation, and certification for major construction projects. The successful candidate will oversee construction contracts, manage cost control, and ensure the financial aspects of the project align with organizational goals. Primary Accountabilities / Responsibilities Contract Engineer/Administrator (QS): Collaborate with construction and procurement teams to prepare, award, and manage construction and fabrication contracts. Develop and amend “Schedule of Rates” basis to apply to various discipline construction contracts. Develop and implement processes for measuring, valuing, and certifying construction works performed. Coordinate with third-party contractors to resolve cost management issues. Support project and construction teams in negotiating and resolving contract claims and variations. Provide advice and guidance on optimal compensation and measurement methods. Contribute to cost monitoring and forecasting of construction projects. Manage site instructions and variation orders effectively. Exercise effective contract control that impacts the refinery’s capital budget significantly. Previous experience in Civils and Piping Quantity Surveying required. Critical Skills (Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge): A recognized qualification in Quantity Surveying is essential. Strong understanding of construction contracts and associated processes. Ability to negotiate and influence decisions with contractors and suppliers. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SAP; knowledge of Ecosys system is an advantage but not critical. Ability to analyse complex data and produce clear, actionable insights. Strong capability to evaluate and recommend the best course of action in cost management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Commitment to improving processes and systems continuously. Understanding of procurement processes and accounting policies. High ethical standards and integrity in all work.
