This is a fantastic opportunity to work as a Food Technologist with a top company in the food industry. You will report to the New Product Development (NPD) Manager and your main job will be to improve food production processes and make sure they meet quality standards set by the company and customers.
Your tasks will include preparing quality documents, testing how long products last, understanding customer needs, and reviewing trial runs to help projects go smoothly. You will also manage packaging processes, ensuring all changes to packaging get the right approvals and are made with minimal impact on production, while working closely with purchasing, supply chain, and technical teams.
The right person for this job will be important in developing frozen dessert products, making sure they follow safety rules and manage allergens correctly. Keeping in touch with different teams will be key to ensure that everything aligns with company goals and customer needs, leading to constant improvements in processes and product offerings.
Your role responsibilities will include:
Process and Equipment Design
• Design production layouts and equipment to ensure safety and quality.
• Integrate new materials and technologies into production seamlessly.
• Lead staff during trials and launches to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and elevate quality.
• Manage trials and pilot plant operations.
• Travel to various sites as necessary for trials.
• Adjust work hours to accommodate trial and launch requirements.
Packaging Coordination
• Oversee packaging design and artwork approval, ensuring coordination across procurement, sales, and supply chain.
• Maintain accurate packaging databases and track modifications.
• Collaborate with suppliers and design agencies to ensure packaging meets established standards.
Process and Product Development
• Lead new product development initiatives aligned with customer needs and factory capabilities.
• Identify opportunities for innovation in products and processes.
• Conduct trials, document results, and resolve issues prior to launch.
• Analyse trial data, including viscosity and microbiological tests.
• Ensure compliance with technical policies for product launches.
• Oversee shelf-life and abuse testing, integrating findings into quality standards.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with technical policies and customer specifications, regularly updating quality documentation.
• Conduct post-launch reviews for continuous improvement, addressing any issues while maintaining quality standards.
• Communicate project updates in a timely manner, managing any delays or issues with stakeholders.
