A forward-thinking Housing Association (not-for-profit organisation) focused on empowering individuals to achieve stability, seeks a Management Accountant, overseeing and reconciling data transfers across systems into the Finance system. Joining a Financial team of dedicated individuals, reporting directly to Head of Corporate Communications your role as Management Accountant would be to support budget holders by providing accurate, up-to-date financial information and addressing variances to budgets or forecasts promptly with planned corrective actions.\n\nOffered as a permanent contract, the position of Management Accountant provides a competitive salary, appealing company benefits, attractive working environment, hybrid working (2 days office/3 days home) and flexi time (total working hours per week 37.5 hrs, with core hours being any time between Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm). Ideal candidate would possess expertise in Financial Analysis and Reporting, Technical Proficiency, Accounting Process Accuracy and Payroll Management.
*Candidates will be required to undergo a DBS check.\n\nDuties of Management Accountant:\n\n * Prepare monthly analyses comparing financial results to forecasts and prior year figures, addressing variances with budget holders\n\n * Review cost centres post month-end for accurate coding of costs and revenues, making corrections as needed\n\n * Assist and support the implementation of a new finance system over the next 6 months\n\n * Distribute quarterly budget templates to budget holders and lead monthly financial meetings\n\n * Support team during absences and train new starters or budget holders on financial processes\n\n * Investigate significant variances with budget holders and report non-compliance to the Financial Controller\n\n * Compile financial reports for the CEO and Executive Team\n\n * Reconcile housing benefits and council tax with the Benefits Team\n\n * Develop processes for recharges from provider payments\n\n * Support a project team to track rent and manage arrears\n\nSkills/attributes required by Management Accountant:\n\n * AAT qualification or equivalent experience in finance - essential\n\n * Knowledge and experience in accounting processes, focusing on financial analysis and reporting\n\n * Strong numeracy and analytical skills to interpret complex data\n\n * Experience in payroll management and understanding payroll legislation\n\n * Proficient in MS Excel and Windows-based accounting software\n\n * Interpersonal skills to build relationships with various stakeholders\n\n * Attention to detail and delivering high-quality work\n\n * Handling sensitive information with discretion\n\n * Proactive mindset with strong work ethic\n\n * Collaborative and independent, managing multiple priorities effectively\n\nLocation: Birmingham, West Midlands – Hybrid role (2 days Office/3 days Home working)\nHours: Monday to Friday total 37.5 hours per week – Flexitime (core hours 8 am – 6 pm)\nSalary: £44,396.00 p.a.\nBenefits: Pension, Enhanced Holiday Entitlement, Family Friendly Policies, Cycle to Work, Life/Health Insurance and Discount Portal\nContract: Permanent\n\nIf you have the skills required to fulfil the role of Management Accountant, please APPLY TODAY
