The IT Business Partner serves as a key liaison between IT Services and various academic and professional service departments within the university. Their primary responsibility is to act as a service delivery manager, ensuring effective collaboration, understanding departmental technology needs, and facilitating the adoption of IT solutions. They play a critical role in aligning departmental requirements with IT governance and strategic direction.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Building Relationships & Communication:
1. Attend departmental meetings to understand needs and share IT developments.
2. Act as a trusted advisor, ensuring IT Services understands evolving departmental needs.
3. Report trends, risks, and opportunities to IT leadership.
Service Delivery & Engagement:
1. Facilitate the adoption of university IT systems and ensure departments have the necessary skills.
2. Address user concerns and work towards long-term solutions.
3. Keep departmental staff informed of IT changes and updates.
Project Involvement & Requirements Gathering:
1. Translate departmental needs into IT service proposals and projects.
2. Participate in project delivery groups, influencing solution design and implementation.
3. Run awareness workshops on new IT services and strategic plans.
Customer Relationship & Best Practices:
1. Maintain an up-to-date customer relationship management system.
2. Benchmark against best practices from other institutions and industries.
3. Present findings on faculty or departmental technology needs to stakeholders.

2. Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring, coaching, and developing teams.
3. Ability to balance customer needs while managing expectations, particularly in high-pressure environments.
Technical & Analytical Skills:
1. Proven IT knowledge, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and an understanding of technology solutions.
2. Experience in business process analysis and developing plans to optimise efficiency and effectiveness.
3. Aware of regulatory obligations and compliance techniques relevant to IT services.
Personal Qualities:
1. Excellent interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach and the ability to empathise with stakeholders.
2. Enthusiastic about organisational change, with a practical understanding of the challenges of change management.

Qualifications
Essential:
1. Hold a relevant professional level qualification or Bachelors/Advanced Degree.
Desirable:
1. Hold a relevant change management qualification, and be able to demonstrate its use with examples.
