Department Profile:
The Investment Management (IM) Financial Crimes Risk Team is embedded within the Firm’s business line. It is responsible for identifying, assessing, and escalating potential money laundering and reputational risk issues associated with higher risk client types. The IM Financial Crimes Risk Team is considered the first line of defense and supports the onboarding, enhanced due diligence, and negative news processes for Morgan Stanley.
The Heightened Risk Review Team VP will:
1. Lead documented and timely reviews of higher risk customer populations.
2. Contribute to development of related data analytics and coordinate with Technology partners.
3. Maintain related review templates and inventories.
4. Communicate review results to impacted stakeholders.
5. Support ad-hoc research and analysis requests.
6. Coordinate relevant escalations.
7. Support Heightened Risk Review management with policy and procedure refinement and updates.
8. Develop concise and effective presentations for senior leadership.
9. Contribute to key projects and initiatives focused on assessing and mitigating the Firm’s exposure to money laundering and other financial crimes.
10. Collaborate and engage with stakeholders including Business Leaders, Legal & Compliance, Risk, and Internal Audit.
Required Experience and Skills
1. 8+ years of experience in financial crimes investigation, audit, or compliance monitoring/testing.
2. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or another related field.
3. Take initiative, analyze, summarize, and communicate effectively.
4. Work independently and in a team environment.
5. Investigate, identify issues, impacts and trends to propose comprehensive solutions.
6. Develop internal relationships, influence stakeholders, and build consensus.
7. Multitask effectively, appropriately prioritize assignments, and action matters promptly.
8. Work in a high volume, fast paced environment.
9. Handle highly confidential information with appropriate discretion.
10. Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) designation is a plus.
11. Advanced knowledge and experience using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $140,000 and $200,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
