Position Snapshot Nestlé UK&I Location: York Workshop Lead Technician Supply Chain - Logistics Holidays - 25 days 6 flex days 8 Bank Hols Shift pattern - Monday - Friday (6am to 2pm/1pm to 9pm rotating weekly) 6am to 2pm - 4 Saturdays from 8 (approximately) Salary: £45,096 (Base salary £38,217.00 18% shift allowance) Position Summary We have a fantastic opportunity in our Nestle Logistics team for an experienced vehicle technician to join the team as a Workshop Lead Technician/Leading Hand. The primary goal for this role is to lead and support a team of Vehicle Technicians, to ensure full utilisation of the vehicle fleet and keep the equipment in the hands of the user. A Day in the Life of a Workshop Lead Technician You will be coming in to manage and plan the day-to-day responsibilities for a team of 6 reports within the Logistics Workshop Operation. The role will include the planning of vehicles into the workshop for servicing, MOT, Inspections and defects. You will also be expected to cover the role of the Workshop Manager when they are unavailable due to meetings or annual leave. To always carry out development and training of workshop personnel in conjunction with the workshop manager and 3rd parties with an adherence to the expected Health and Safety practices. Key responsibilities: - Attend the weekly workshop meeting with active participation - Ensure all H&S maintained whilst on-site at work - Complete DPR's / NCE / Ilearn - Keep the MOT pass rate at above 90% - Carrying out all maintenance and Inspection on a fleet of trailers, tankers and vehicles in line with DVSA and Ministry of Transport regulations and working to the guide to maintaining roadworthiness. - Ensuring that all vehicles and equipment complies to all UK road legislation. - Management and delivery of small projects - Maintaining all Health and Safety standards as laid down in the Nestle H&S policy. What will make you successful You will ideally come into this role with a background as a HGV Technician and preferably with a workshop background. If you have been operating in a supervisory role already, this will be a distinct advantage for you to come into the role and step seamlessly into leading/supervising the team. You will also ideally have the following: - NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification in vehicle mechanics - Essential - Full LGV / HGV licence ID desirable but not essential. - Driver CPC is desirable but not essential as training can be provided. - Experience within an HGV Technician role - desirable, not essential. - Experience within a HGV workshop environment - Working knowledge of a workshop environment and practices - Experience of working within a technical team - Working to demand objectives and tracking completion What you need to know We will be considering candidates as they apply and we will occasionally close job advertisements early in the event we receive sufficient applicants, so please don't delay in submitting your application.
