This is an exciting opportunity to develop your career as a registered nurse within a speciality that is rapidly expanding. We require an enthusiastic and motivated staff nurse to join our team so we can provide an excellent service to our patients. Ideally you will have some experience of work within an ophthalmic setting and be proactive towards developing your ophthalmic skills; however, if you are a newly qualified nurse or do not have experience within this area, we will provide you with a full teaching package to support your development.

The post holder will be an enthusiastic professional, with the passion and drive to provide the highest quality ophthalmic care to their patients. We work very closely with our medical team and all health care professionals, and this is a fantastic opportunity for a nurse who is dynamic, friendly, and thrives to provide an excellent standard of care.
The role will include being responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing specialist care and advice, and will involve working in the day surgery unit and pre-operative assessment.

The post holder will have the following responsibilities:
* Assessment of care needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care.
* Ensure that agreed standards of nursing practice within the ward/department area are maintained.
* To ensure that all Trust, Divisional, and Ward/Department Health & Safety Policies are adhered to.
* To maintain personal contact with patients, other health care disciplines, relatives, and visitors.
* To mentor and support new staff and student nurses.
* To undertake appropriate enhanced roles, following the necessary training.
* To ensure safe custody and administration of drugs, in accordance with Trust Policy.

* Registered General Nurse with NMC qualification
