KM83: HGV Mechanic Location: Lybster, Scotland Salary: £50,000 Per Annum Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent About the Role: We are seeking a skilled and experienced HGV Mechanic to join our clients team based in Lybster. This role involves preparing lorries, trailers, and some diggers for their MOT inspections. You will be responsible for performing a variety of mechanical tasks, ensuring all vehicles are in excellent working condition, and meeting safety and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities: Carry out MOT preparations for HGVs, trailers, and diggers, ensuring compliance with all relevant safety standards and regulations. Perform routine inspections and diagnostics on HGVs and trailers to identify mechanical issues and faults. Carry out repairs and maintenance on various components, including engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension, and electrical systems. Work to ensure vehicles meet legal and safety standards for roadworthiness. Maintain a clean and efficient working environment, adhering to health and safety regulations. Keep accurate records of work completed and report any additional work or parts required. Communicate with the team to ensure timely and efficient job completion. Be available for overtime as required, with higher pay rates for overtime hours. Skills and Qualifications: Time-served experience as an HGV Mechanic or similar mechanical role, with extensive hands-on experience in repairing and maintaining lorries, trailers, and diggers. No formal qualifications required, but proven experience in the trade is essential. Strong knowledge of HGVs, trailers, and heavy-duty vehicles, including MOT preparation and inspections. Ability to diagnose and repair a wide range of mechanical faults. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a focus on quality and safety. Strong attention to detail and an ability to follow work instructions and safety protocols. Full driving license.
