Management Accountant Location: Faversham. Fully office-based Salary: £40k-£50k Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (30-minute lunch) Job Purpose The Management Accountant plays a vital role in the company's financial operations, providing key reporting and analytical support to the Head of Finance, with a particular focus on project finance. This role requires a commercially minded individual with strong analytical skills to enhance financial decision-making across the business. Key Responsibilities Project Financial Analysis: Monitor, evaluate, and provide insights into the financial performance of company projects. Cost & Margin Analysis: Conduct monthly cost value reconciliations and margin analysis to track project profitability. Budget & Forecasting: Assist the Head of Finance with the annual budget, forecasting processes, and the development of the company's long-term financial plan (3-5 years). Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyse monthly financial results, delivering insights and commentary to senior stakeholders, including management and the Board. Cash Flow Management: Maintain and update project cash flow forecasts, covering both short-term (13-week) and rolling 12-month projections. Balance Sheet Reconciliation: Ensure accuracy and completeness of project-related balance sheet accounts, including WIP and retentions. Stakeholder Engagement: Develop strong relationships across the business to enhance financial understanding and provide context for financial performance. Business Partnering: Act as a trusted financial advisor to business leaders, offering insights to support strategic decision-making. Additional Finance Duties: Support the Head of Finance with other finance-related tasks as required. Required Skills & Competencies Core Requirements Proficiency in Sage Line 50 or similar accounting software. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Commercially astute with an analytical mindset. Qualified Accountant (AAT/CIMA/ACCA) or QBE (Qualified by Experience). Desirable (but not essential) Experience within the Construction industry. Personal Attributes Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to challenge and influence stakeholders. Highly methodical with a keen eye for detail and a solid understanding of accountancy regulations. Ability to translate complex financial data for non-finance stakeholders.
