We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a team at a school in Norfolk. This role involves providing tailored support to a child with Special Educational Needs (SEN) on a one-to-one basis, helping them to access the curriculum, develop independence, and reach their full potential in a supportive learning environment.
You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement personalised learning strategies, manage behaviour effectively, and provide emotional and academic support. This role begins March 2025.
Duties as a SEN Teaching Assistant:
* Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a child with SEN, adapting teaching methods to meet their individual needs.
* Assisting with learning activities and ensuring the child remains engaged in lessons.
* Implementing strategies outlined in the child’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
* Supporting social and emotional development, encouraging confidence and independence.
* Managing behaviour effectively in line with school policies.
* Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure consistent support.
* Assisting with personal care or medical needs where required (if applicable).
Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant:
* Experience working with children with SEN, particularly in a 1:1 support role (desirable but not essential).
* A patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
* A good understanding of SEN strategies, such as autism-friendly approaches, speech and language support, or behaviour management techniques.
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning) are desirable but not essential as a SEN Teaching Assistant.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
