We welcome an experienced theatre practitioner/Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) to apply for this exciting opportunity within the theatre department at Newark Hospital. As a Theatre Team Leader, you will play a crucial role in providing leadership and support within our dedicated theatre team. This position offers a unique chance to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, where you will be instrumental in ensuring the highest standards of patient care and operational efficiency.
In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing the daily activities of the theatre department, ensuring that all procedures are carried out safely and efficiently. You will work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional care to our patients. Your leadership will be vital in maintaining a positive and productive work environment, fostering teamwork and promoting continuous professional development among staff.
You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the strategic planning and development of the theatre services, implementing best practices and innovative solutions to enhance patient outcomes. This role requires a proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to respond to the changing needs of the department and the wider hospital.

Knowledge Requirements
* A variety of communication skills with clear written and oral skills
* Effective organisation abilities and encourages high standards throughout the team
* Computer literate including Excel and PowerPoint
* Ability to support research findings and support evidence-based practice
* Able to coordinate and deal with any challenging situations including difficult conversations and people management
* Must be able to demonstrate trust behaviours consistent with the CARE Values
* Completed or willing to undertake a leadership development course
* Teaching qualification
* A good understanding of medical equipment and problem solving
* Participates and proactively assesses the need for change
Qualifications
* First Level Registered Nurse or Diploma/Degree in Operating Department Practice or equivalent
Further Training
* Evidence of personal and professional development in perioperative practice/management
* Demonstrates an awareness of research principles and their application to clinical practice
* Assist with the development of education and training
* Diploma in management/relevant to post or willingness to undertake related diploma level study
* Surgical First Assistant
* Recovery experience
* ILS/ALS Compliant
* IV administration Compliant
Experience
* Relevant experience as a Senior Operating Department Practitioner/1st Level Registered Nurse
* Minimum 2 years experience within the designated specialities
* Promote a supportive environment where staff feel valued
* Competent in complex clinical skills
* Further training within specific specialities
* Audit understanding and knowledge
Contractual
* Ability to work flexibly to meet the service's needs
* Partake in the on-call rota
* Willingness to undertake skill training related to the speciality
* Ensures resources are available and used to facilitate quality patient care while demonstrating financial awareness
