Role Overview:
This is a key leadership role where you will be responsible for managing a team of three accountants while mentoring and developing a further team of five bookkeepers. You will oversee and review accounting and tax work, manage team deadlines using Xero Practice Manager (XPM), and actively contribute to business development by finding and winning new clients. Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and mentor a team of three accountants and oversee the development of five bookkeepers.
2. Review workpapers, annual accounts, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
3. Oversee the review and approval of corporation tax returns and individual tax returns.
4. Manage team deadlines and workflow efficiently using Xero Practice Manager (XPM).
5. Implement best practices to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance across the team.
6. Develop and maintain strong client relationships by providing expert accounting and tax advice.
7. Proactively seek new business opportunities and contribute to the firm's growth by finding and winning new clients.
8. Stay up to date with industry regulations and tax legislation to ensure compliance and advise clients accordingly.
9. Collaborate with senior management to drive strategic initiatives and operational improvements.
Skills & Qualifications:
1. Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CTA or equivalent).
2. Extensive experience in accounting, tax compliance, and financial reporting.
3. Strong leadership and mentoring skills with experience managing teams.
4. Excellent knowledge of Xero, Xero Practice Manager (XPM), TaxCalc and other accounting software.
5. High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
6. Proven ability to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks, and deliver high-quality work.
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with clients and colleagues.
8. Business development mindset with a track record of winning and retaining clients.
