Description About NewOrbit Space NewOrbit is engineering the lowest-orbiting satellites on Earth to rapidly advance global connectivity and insight. Our engineering teams are tackling one of the toughest challenges in the field: building satellites that can breathe air and operate at an altitude of just 200 km - one-third that of conventional satellites. Please note that this is not a regular 9-to-5 job. You are expected to be able to work extended hours on-site. Your Role We are seeking an experienced Commercial Lead to build up a commercial team. This role is pivotal in driving NewOrbit’s growth through strategic sales, leveraging deep industry expertise, and forming strong relationships with key stakeholders. You will represent NewOrbit in both technical and commercial discussions, securing contracts that expand our reach and impact in the satellite market. The ideal candidate will already possess a strong understanding of the industry and key players and has an extensive network through his previous experiences. You should be capable of providing warm intros as well as reaching out and expanding NewOrbit’s customer network Key Responsibilities Secure commercial contracts with leading space agencies and private players in the satellite industry. Initiate both commercial and technical discussions. Leverage an established network to initiate warm introductions and grow NewOrbit’s customer base. Identify and develop new relationships to expand commercial opportunities. In the long run, as NewOrbit grows, you’ll have to build and oversee a high-performing commercial team. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise 8 years of experience in business development, customer engagement, and stakeholder management in the space sector. Proven track record securing large private sector contracts (>$5M) and managing strategic relationships in the industry. Proven track record securing large government contracts (>$5M) and managing strategic relationships in the industry. Strong technical background, enabling in-depth discussions on satellite technologies and solutions with potential clients. Exceptional networking, negotiation, and execution skills, with a demonstrable ability to close high-value deals. Must be able to travel domestically and internationally if needed.
