Purpose of the Role - Process Design Engineer:
In the role of Process Design Engineer, you will be integral to the Engineering Design Team, working closely with Design Managers and Leads to produce high-quality engineering designs that adhere to industry standards and regulations. This technical position demands expertise in the water and wastewater sector, with responsibilities that may include line management of graduate and assistant engineers. Your role will focus on driving innovation, ensuring engineering governance, integrating design activities across various disciplines, and providing technical support for procurement and site operations.
Key Accountabilities - Process Design Engineer:
1. Ensure technical compliance and quality in design outputs for water and wastewater projects.
2. Collaborate with project teams to achieve efficient designs that balance capital and operational costs.
3. Adhere to procedural governance and client specifications.
4. Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental Legislation.
5. Solve technical problems throughout the project lifecycle, managing risks and opportunities.
6. Support pre-contract design activities as needed.
7. Work towards accreditation with professional bodies (e.g., IChemE).
Competency Requirements - Process Design Engineer:
1. Skilled in liaising with clients and supply chains to develop optimal process solutions.
2. Proficient in Process Calculations, Mass Balances, and Hydraulic Calculations.
3. Experienced in preparing Process Block Diagrams, PFDs, and P&IDs.
4. Capable of developing Process Control Philosophies and Process Commissioning Plans.
Technical/Professional Expertise and Qualifications - Process Design Engineer:
1. Degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification.
2. Over 4 years of experience in the Water and Wastewater industries.
3. Chartered or Member of a professional Engineering body is preferable.
4. Experienced in a contracting/consulting environment with commercial awareness.
