How You'll Make a Difference South Gloucestershire Council are looking for an Emergency Duty Social Worker based at Badminton Road Office in Yate. This is a Limited Term Contract ending 31.05.2025 working 37 hours per week, with an annual salary starting from £38,223 and an additional out of hours shift allowance of 26%. You will be working within a small team of Senior Practitioners, where you will receive contact information from the public and other professionals regarding social care issues. This could be from anywhere across the region covering Bristol, BANES, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire, which will require an urgent response. What will you be doing? The team operates a 10 week rolling rota, covering nights, weekends and bank holidays. This includes 3 weeks off rota and 1 weekend on standby. By demonstrating your knowledge of legislation and statutory duties under the Children Act, Mental Health Act, Care Act and other relevant legislation you will be responding accordingly to each contact raised. You will work jointly with other agencies and statutory bodies (e.g. Police, Health etc.) and maintain good working relationships with these agencies. With the completion of all necessary forms, including maintaining the log of all calls received, stating the action taken and ensuring that details are reported to the appropriate duty desk. What We Need From You You will hold a recognised professional Social Work qualification, e.g Dip SW, CQSW or equivalent and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). You will have relevant post-qualifying experience in either Child or adult Safeguarding issues or Mental Health, plus extensive experience of dealing with complex cases. You will be able to undertake complex risk assessments of children, families and adults and to implement risk management plans or care packages, through effective communication both verbally and in writing. Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.
