Area & Department Manager – Personnel Support Services
An opportunity to join an experienced, versatile team, delivering first class administration services to our world class Armed Forces personnel.
Position Overview
Leading a team of skilled administrators, the post holder will be responsible for the successful delivery of customer-focused Military Personnel Administration Services, incorporating personal and medical administration support services at HMS Collingwood, Fareham, HMS Sultan, Gosport and HMS Excellent, Portsmouth.
Main Responsibilities
* Act as the leading Subject Matter Expert for all administration services, promoting best practice, and delivering the contracted requirement to the appropriate quality standard and the agreed service levels, including the completion of internal checks, controls, and compliance auditing.
* Promote the development and optimum performance of the delivery team, taking appropriate and timely action to mitigate risk and the potential for service failure across all service areas.
* Identify and implement innovative solutions to meet the emerging demands of the business within contractual boundaries.
* Ensure all activities are carried out in full compliance with current Health and Safety Regulations and the General Data Protection Regulations.
* Undertake any additional tasks as determined by the Line Manager, including leading on change to meet the emerging needs of the business.
What We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will be well-organised, precise, confident with credible communication skills readily able and willing to contribute at all levels. In addition, the individual will be versatile, intuitive, and professional with good judgement and absolute integrity. Pro-active and persuasive when required and responsive to changing needs of the business and demands of the customer, while remaining calm under pressure and self-motivated, the incumbent will be reliable and well presented, giving a positive image of MITIE company values. In addition, the following is needed:
* Management experience with good organisational and motivational skills and a high degree of integrity.
* Proven track record of delivering quality administration and service with customer facing experience.
* Persuasive and credible verbal and written communicator with the ability to develop close working relationships.
* IT literate with a good working knowledge of MS Office applications.
* Conversant/knowledge of MOD personnel and medical administration applications and systems (desirable).
* Forward thinking approach and the ability to embrace and lead on change.
* Ability to manage short notice changes to requirements and deadline.
* Management level knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and practice (IOSH (Managing Safely) desirable).
* Good standard of education, preferably to NVQ Level 5 or equivalent.
Additional Information
MOD security clearance and DBS Standard required. To meet national security vetting requirements, you will normally need to have been resident in the UK for at least 3 years to gain a Counter Terrorist Check, 5 years for Security Clearance and 10 years for Developed Vetting prior to the date of application. All Developed Vetted posts are required to be UK Nationals.
Proof of right to work in UK essential.
The Contract operates a 37.5 hour working week between the hours of 0730 and 1700 Mon to Fri only.
