We have an opportunity for 3 / 4 full or part time Permanent Veterinary Surgeons to join an Independent first opinion small animal practice that is soon to open in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire area.
Join this new exciting journey! The practice is looking for a vets who have good experience gained in a small animal practice, excellent communication skills in order to inform and support clients and the ability to create evidence-based treatment plans. You will be passionate about keeping up to date with your own professional development.
This role is full time with shifts of 8 or 10 hours, along with weekends on a rota. There will be no OOH work or on-call duties.
Key details:
Type: Small animal
Hours: If full time this will be a 40-hour week across 4 days and are full open to discuss all options on working hours / rota
Weekends: On a rota yest to be confirmed, but this won’t be for a while after opening and could just be a Saturday morning on a 1 in 4 say TBC.
OOH: None
Sole charge: None
Branch work: None
Consultations: Minium 15 minutes
Team: 4 vets, 4 nurses, HVN, PM and a very supportive non-clinical team
Other: Birthday leave, free gym membership and Free car parking on site
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintaining and accurately writing clinical notes
Diagnostics, prescriptions, and surgeries
Carrying out tests such as x-rays, ultrasound, and blood tests
Dealing with emergency cases - possibly necessary when clinic becomes hospital status
Health checks and vaccinations
In patient care and handover duties on their clinical care correctly communicated to other colleagues
Managing ethical decisions
Being aware and knowing of laws surrounding animal welfare
Client advice about their pet such as dietary recommendations
Pet passport paperwork
Potentially some night work once hospital status
Communicate clearly and effectively with clients with regards to their pets investigations and treatment and advice about after care.
Investigate and resolve customer complaints
Utilise advisory boards and fellow staff to ensure clinical excellence is delivered
Adhere to RCVS regulations and health and safety regulations
Proactively develop clinical skills and complete CPD requirements

The role is not determined on years of experience and be catered to suit but ultimately the Vet needs to be ambitious looking to develop your clinical skills and knowledge further
Areas of special interest would be an advantage
You will want to be at the forefront of the practice help growing and developing the services and facilities provided
You will have excellent customer facing skills
You will work well within the team alongside other veterinary specialists and clinicians
You will be a passionate and motivated veterinary surgeon with a genuine interest for animal welfare
Facilities:
The practice will soon be fully equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. They also welcome equipment requests from new Vets and the team. They are open to all ideas and would support a new vet who wanted specialised equipment.
The practice will open with 3 consultation rooms, a cattery room, 2 operation rooms, a laboratory, and a pharmacy. They plan to further expand the clinic into the upstairs level in two years.

Salary: Up to £70,000 per annum, commensurate to experience
