Train as a Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or Welding Technician to undertake a structured training program of study, practical workshop work, and on-the-job assignments.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Training and Mentoring: Responsible for the training and mentoring of apprentices, with a strong emphasis on passing on knowledge and skills.
2. Machine Setup and Adjustment: Set up and adjust metalworking machines and equipment.
3. Machine Operation: Operate machines to produce parts or tools by turning, boring, milling, planning, shaping, slotting, grinding, or drilling metal stock or components.
4. Assembly and Welding: Fit and assemble metal parts, tools, or sub-assemblies, including welding or brazing parts.
5. Pipe Installation: Cut, thread, bend, and install hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines.
6. Tool and Assembly Repair: Dismantle faulty tools and assemblies and repair or replace defective parts.
7. Tool Operation: Set up and/or operate hand and machine tools, welding equipment, or Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machines.
8. Quality Control: Check accuracy and quality of finished parts, tools, or sub-assemblies.
The Successful Candidate Must Possess:
9. Trade Qualifications: Mechanical qualifications are essential.
10. Competencies: Forklift and overhead crane competencies.
11. Driver's License: Essential.
12. Computer Literacy: Required.
13. Communication Skills: Good presentation and effective organisational and communication skills.

15. Technical Skills: High standard of technical skills relevant to the trade.
16. Engineering Drawings: Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
